Growing in character: A Senior High School Textbook on Personal Development (Second Edition) aims to awaken the students' increasing awareness of themselves in this developmental stage in their lives so that they can develop self-confidence and formulate responsible decisions concerning their course, work, and vocation in life. Applying the experiential learning approach, this book guides the students in exploring the different aspects of their development by means of introspection, reflection, sharing of experiences, and involvement in discussions about the various concepts and theories in psychology. The lessons are presented in two chapters. Chapter I facilitates the students' personal assessment of themselves and the challenges that they encounter during the teenage period by encouraging them to engage in active group discussions and activities. It also provides insights on how to handle stress, manage time, learn well, and improve one's own weaknesses. Chapter II explores personal relationships in a spiral manner, starting from the students' relationship with their family and peers, with the society they live in, and within their spiritual selves. Likewise, it provides an overview of the different facets of the students' career development, including the assessment of their aptitudes and interest; career decision-making; and facilities of reflection of their own personal development. Using the values they have developed during their pre-teenage period and the standards that were harnessed in this course, it is hoped that the students will be able to attain their maximum personal development and grow to become responsible adults within their families an in their society.
