Chapter 1: Introduction to media and information literacy. -- Chapter 2 : Using and producing media and information.
Every society is saturated with billions of information from various media sources, specifically in the Internet and traditional media such as television, radio, and newspaper. Amidst the surge in information vis-a-vis the rise of global challenges such as a pandemic, wars, and other social problems, the public has gained access to more information with more accessible methods of communication, as well as more power to create and disseminate them. In this situation, how do you ensure your protection from too much information? How can you meet the challenges of exposure to an exponential amount of media content? And how do you combat disinformation, misinformation, historical, revisionism, and distortions in this global age? We have entered a new global arena, where billions and billions of information have become more intensive and accessible due to Internet. According to UNICEF, more than 70% of the world' youth are now online. And every day, people consume more than billions of hours of video through various social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Tiktok. We have been accustomed to using the traditional form of media-television, radio and print as our primary sources of news and information. Today, it is entirely different. Social media platforms have become the go-to-guy for information, news, and entertainment. It has also become a powerful tool for information consumption and information creation and dissemination.
